SHANGHAI (AFP) - Italian World Cup-winning captain Fabio Cannavaro was named coach of China upon Friday (March 15), spearheading the ambitious country's attempts to become a footballing force.It was not quickly determined if the former Juventus and real Madrid star will lead the team upon a substitute or permanent basis - Chinese media speculated that the upcoming China mug may amount to a job audition.The 45-year-old former defender will augment the job behind physical coach of Chinese Super League (CSL) giants Guangzhou Evergrande, making him one of the most powerful figures in Chinese football history.
